Goalkeeper Coach | Owner of GK805
Matthew Escareno is a dedicated goalkeeper coach with over six years of coaching experience and a lifelong passion for the game. He began playing soccer at the age of four and grew up in Oxnard, California, where he developed through competitive youth, college, and professional levels across Southern California.
In 2025, Matthew transitioned to full-time goalkeeper coaching. He currently serves as the Assistant and Goalkeeper Coach for the Westmont College Men’s Soccer Team (NCAA Division II), as well as for the Loyola High School Boys Soccer Team and several competitive clubs in Ventura County.
My mission is to mentor and develop the next generation of goalkeepers both on and off the field. Having grown up without access to specialized goalkeeper training, I understand the importance of proper guidance and support. That’s why I’m working toward building a goalkeeper academy — to create a positive and empowering environment where young goalkeepers can thrive.
I bring passion, experience, and a deep love for the game to every session. My goal is to help goalkeepers reach their highest potential, not only as athletes but as individuals prepared for life’s challenges beyond the game.

Antonio Chavez Borrelli grew up in Los Angeles, playing club soccer for Santa Monica United and high school soccer at Loyola High School, where he helped his team win the 2016 CIF and State Championships in Division 1. His journey continued to the ACC on a Division 1 scholarship at Boston College and later to Creighton University, where he completed his master’s while playing a fifth year for the Bluejays.
After college, Antonio pursued a professional career in the Faroe Islands as the starting goalkeeper and team captain, earning multiple Man of the Match honors along the way. That experience taught him the true power of the game — not just the wins and losses, but the doors it opens and the opportunities it creates.
Today, his passion has shifted from playing to developing the next generation of athletes. From his experience, he understands what the game can offer when players have the right support, guidance, and tools. Antonio founded Glovus to create a better option for goalkeepers craving premium gear — gloves designed with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to perfecting every element of performance.
Glovus gloves represent more than performance — they represent heart. The company’s training philosophy mirrors this approach, built on passion, purpose, and the belief that every player deserves a chance to chase their dreams.
Matthew Escareno’s soccer journey began in Oxnard, California, where he played competitively from the age of four through eighteen. Growing up in a community deeply connected to the game, he developed his skills through local clubs and high school soccer, eventually earning a spot on the Oxnard College Men’s Soccer Team. From 2016 to 2017, he competed at Oxnard College, where his performance stood out and opened the door to transfer to Cal State San Marcos, an NCAA Division II program.
At Cal State San Marcos, Matthew played for two seasons, capping off his collegiate career with a successful senior year. His development and strong performances led to his first professional opportunity in 2020, signing with Albion San Diego. During his three seasons with Albion, he gained valuable experience and established himself as a reliable and driven goalkeeper at the professional level.
In 2022, Matthew returned to his roots to join Ventura County Fusion in the USL League Two. His leadership and performance played a key role in the team’s run to win the USL League Two National Championship. Building on that success, he signed with Irvine Zeta in 2024, competing in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) and taking part in the U.S. Open Cup.
After a fulfilling professional playing career, Matthew transitioned into full-time coaching in 2025, bringing his experience, competitive mindset, and deep knowledge of the goalkeeper position into his new role as a mentor and leader for aspiring players.
Alex begun his love for the game at the young age of 5 playing in local parks around the San Fernando Valley area. Through pure dedication and determination, he was able to have a prolonged career of 20 years before turning his passion from player to coach.

Coach Antonio has been a game-changer for Caleb’s development. Not only has he become more skilled, but he has also grown mentally tougher through Antonio’s training. Antonio pushes him, challenges him, and keeps him fully engaged in every session. Caleb’s shot has become more powerful, and he’s noticeably more explosive on the ball. He loves training with Antonio because the sessions are intense, productive, and tailored to exactly what he needs to improve. Antonio has an incredible ability to quickly assess areas for growth and adjust the training accordingly. He has given Caleb so much, and we’re truly grateful for his dedication and expertise!

Coach Antonio has helped my daughter improve her goalkeeping skills so much. Especially on positioning and how to dive correctly. I really appreciated how he’s prepared her on the changes in goalkeeping from 7v7 to 9v9 with punting and playing from the back.

Our son has been training with Coach Antonio for over six months, and the improvement in his goalkeeping has been remarkable! Coach Antonio has a keen eye for details, identifying small adjustments that make a big impact on our son’s performance. He has truly enjoyed working with Coach Antonio and recognizes the significant role he has played in his growth as a goalkeeper.

As a parent, there’s nothing more rewarding than watching your child grow in confidence, skill, and passion—and that’s exactly what we’ve seen over the past two years with our daughter Berlin, under Coach Antonio’s guidance. As a goalkeeper, and thanks to his dedicated coaching, her game has transformed in every way. Coach Antonio brings out the best in his players—not just in terms of technical ability, but also in mental toughness and leadership on the field. He’s patient, supportive, and knows how to push her just the right amount to help her rise to every challenge. Our daughter looks forward to every practice, and it’s clear she trusts and respects him deeply. We are truly grateful for the impact Coach Antonio has had—not only on her performance as a keeper, but also on her overall love for the game. He’s made a huge difference in her life, and we couldn’t ask for a better coach.

Coach Antonio is the best trainer I have found in OC to work with my kids. His attention to details when it comes to the mechanics of teaching soccer to young children is spot on. My kids passion for the sport and wanting to get better through personal training increases with every session. Plus he makes it fun for them so they are constantly engaged.

Coach Antonio is amazing. Not only is he super friendly, professional, and punctual. He’s a great coach! Antonio’s techniques really take the training to the next level . My son, Daymien, loves going to goalie practice with Coach Antonio. Every time I mention that he has practice with him, Daymien gets super excited. He says Coach Antonio’s practices are the most fun. Plus he likes that Antonio gets down to his level and shows him how to do things.Coach Antonio is great to work with as a parent as well. He schedules things around my impossible schedule - and with three kids and a business to run, time is hard to find, but he always seems to make it work. He also shows up on time and prepared. Plus he’s super friendly and knowledgeable. My husband even makes comments about how much he likes Coach Antonio’s training style (and he’s a hard one to please). We have seen major improvements in Daymien’s performance on the field after practicing with Antonio.

My 9-year-old son worked with Coach Antonio on goalie skills. While playing organized soccer, my son had recently taken an interest in the goalie position. Working with Coach Antonio was his first experience with goalie drills and learning the basics. Coach Antonio was very kind and thoughtful in his approach and skillfully guided my son through a diverse regiment of drills. The next time he played in a soccer game, his improvement was immediately noticeable. My son really enjoyed his lessons with Coach Antonio and the results speak for themselves.

I found Antonio on CoachUp and sent him and a few other coaches a message about needing some goalie coaching for my six year old son. Not only was he the first coach to respond within minutes but he was the only one willing to meet and train in our area which I truly appreciated. My son immediately took a liking to Antonio and looked forward to every training session. Antonio was so patient, understanding and made learning fun. So much so that my five year old daughter got jealous and wanted to train with him too! Then my son told his cousin that he had a soccer trainer and how great he was so his cousin wanted to train with him too—and they both loved it.

My son started to enjoy soccer from a very young age and when he needed extra one-on-one training, I was referred to Antonio. My son training with Antonio has been a blessing and a real privilege. Antonio’s knowledge of strength and conditioning was essential in how he customized the training program to fit my child’s soccer needs. He really understood the importance of a personalized workout. My son was visibly behind his teammates in skill level but since he’s been training with Antonio, he has improved not only in fundamental skills of soccer but also his confidence levels have increased. In a very short period, my son learned how to be more productive with the ball and was faster at decision making. His increased confidence is attributed to Antonio’s positive coaching ability. I highly recommend anyone who has a chance to train with Antonio to take advantage. He has not only made my son a better player but has also boosted his confidence, what more could a parent ask for!
- Nuritza Landgreen

Glovus is my way of providing a top-level glove, the same quality I trusted while playing in front of thousands. I know what it takes to compete at the highest levels, and I wanted to create a glove I would actually wear in those moments. That same passion, precision, and confidence now goes into every product we make and every goalkeeper we support. Whether you're a pro or just starting out, when you wear Glovus, you're wearing what I wore, and what I still stand behind.
